Virtual Private Networking
A VPN allows to networks to connect securely over the Internet. It uses a tunneling protocol that encrypts the information sent from client to server. There are various vendors for VPN software like Cisco and Microsoft. The VPN software must be on both the client PC and the server.
Make sure that your upload speed is high. For example if you have a high download speed and low upload speed your information will not flow freely throughout your VPN. With today’s standards you need upload speed of a couple of megs.
Your wires need to be up to date as well. Old wires tend to cause the VPN to drop the connection. This goes for your networking equipment as well. For the most part an old router may not have VPN pass through capabilities.
